General and excessive use of technology, video games, smartphones and the Internet is associated with a variety of health risks.

Users run the risk of developing Thrombosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, mouse elbow, repetitive use injuries, eye fatigue, migraines, obesity, sleep disturbances, drowsy driving, sleep deprivation, backaches, eating irregularities, and poor personal hygiene.However, the Technological diseases are diseases of the modern era.
Some are caused by occupational exposures, and are marked with direct professional relation, or the action of harmful effects in the workplace.


1- Phantom Ringing Syndrome
Definition :
Phantom vibration syndrome or phantom ringing is the perception that one's mobile phone is vibrating or ringing when it is not ringing. Other terms for this concept include ringxiety (a portmanteau of ring and anxiety) and fauxcellarm (a play on "false alarm").

Caused By
The syndrome is said to be caused by 'learned bodily habits' and anxiety caused by daily technologies. 


2-Nomophobia
Definition :
Nomophobia is defined as fear of being without your phone, a combination of the words no, mobile and phobia. An example of nomophobia is what someone feels when they travel internationally without a working cell phone.

Caused By:
Nomophobia primarily is a fear exhibited in human being when their cell phone is unable to perform the most basic of communication functionality that it is designed to provide.


3- Internet Addiction Disorder
Definition :
Internet addiction is defined as any online-related, compulsive behavior which interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones, and one's work environment. Internet addiction has been called Internet dependency and Internet compulsivity.

Causes By:
This disorder is characteristic of having multiple contributing factors.
Some evidence suggests that if you are suffering from Internet Addiction Disorder, your brain makeup is similar to those that suffer from a chemical dependency, such as drugs or alcohol.

Interestingly, some studies link Internet Addiction Disorder to physically changing the brain structure – specifically affecting the amount of gray and white matter  in regions of the prefrontal brain.

4-Cyberchondria
Definition :
a person who compulsively searches the Internet for information about particular real or imagined symptoms of illness.

Caused by:
Using the Internet to self-diagnose various health problems. In addition to providing large amounts of information, some medical websites allow people to enter in symptoms that they experience to get a list of disorders that match them. Although the medical information on the Web can help people to discover medical problems at an early stage, it may also lead to a tendency to overact to relatively minor symptoms.

5-Digital Dementia
Definition :
Is a term used to describe how overuse of digital technology is resulting in the breakdown of cognitive abilities in a way that is more commonly seen in people who have suffered a head injury or psychiatric illness.

Caused by:
Individuals who rely heavily on technology may suffer deterioration in cerebral performance such as short term memory dysfunction.

While many of us grew up remembering phone numbers and other key information simply by memorizing it, most kids today have grown up not needing to remember things like phone numbers because we have devices that do it for us.

“Overuse of smartphones and game devices hampers the balanced development of the brain,” Byun Gi-won, a doctor at the Balance Brain Center in Seoul, told the JoongAng Daily newspaper.

6-Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Definition :
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common canaliculus syndrome resulting from pressure on the central nerve (median nerve) in the carpal tunnel (lat. canalis carpi) and reflected in reduction of sensation, pain, paresthesia (numbness, tingling), and muscle weakness in the hands and forearms.

Caused by:
It can be difficult to diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome caused by trauma ;because doctors are unaware of the potential for trauma to cause this condition. Traumatic carpal tunnel syndrome is believed to be caused by shear stress on the wrist that does damage to the ligaments and tendons that surround the median nerve.

7-Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) (Eye fatigue)
Definition :
Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for protracted, uninterrupted periods of time.

Caused by:
Prolonged computer use can result in eye strain and impact eyesight in kids as well as adults. Anyone that sits more than 2 hours on a daily basis on the computer is at risk of some degree of computer related eye fatigue."

8-Deafness
Definition:
It became a habit to listen music on headphones as loud possible, to cover all the surrounding noises.
Caused by:
Misuse of headphones.

9-Sleep deprivation
Definition :
There are people who are very attached to their cell phones that they sleep with them on their nightstand or even under their pillow.
Caused by:
Sleeping with your phone near you causes hyper-vigilance – feeling alert, tense and on guard: “Subconsciously, you’re expecting a call or text and this means your sleep will be lighter,”
